My local CC isn’t responding to my email, it’s been a week.

■■■ no more available seats for Physics class…

Anywhere else to take Physics?

https://is.byu.edu/site/courses/index.cfm?school=hs#university=false;

Or just search online high school physics class for other options, however, they tend to be a bit pricey. The cheapest I’ve seen for physics was around $400

@206377 thank you! I have never done an online course before…lol. The physics course at my local CC is $700+ lol.

The course is $300.

Or should I just sign up for AP Physics test and self study? But colleges won’t believe me…

@ThePariah No problem! I haven’t taken one myself either, but I have two friends who have and they both thought they were much harder than irl classes.

One took precalc and said a lot of it was self-taught, the class moved at a quicker pace, and he had to wait to get questions answered by the teacher. It varies by program, but the one he used was taught through pre-recorded lectures, step-by-step guides,email and the occasional live chat. He’s a 4.0 student, takes AP class, and is planning on being an engineer as well (he actually just placed 5th in the world at the engineering competition last month!) and got an A- to show you the rigor, however, it just showed as a Pass on his transcript so it wasn’t factored in his GPA.

The other took an academic elective (so sorry, I can’t remember what it was) but she said teaching was mostly done by reading the teacher’s written instructions, weekly quizzes, and from other students. There was a chat feature all the students used and a forum, so it was kind of like a huge peer tutoring program. She expected the tests to be easy, and if she couldn’t answer something she’d be able to look it up, but the teacher specifically chose questions where the answers couldn’t be found from a quick Google search or in the text book, and there was a time limit on each question so it was imperative to do every assignment given even if it wasn’t graded.

About the price: couldn’t you just be a part-time running start student? Take one class at cc and the rest at hs?

Your counselor could verify that information, but AP scores would come out so late they wouldn’t know how well you know the material. Also, from what I’ve heard, physics is a really difficult class even in the traditional class room setting so I probably wouldn’t self-study. I’m not trying to scare you, friends who aren’t interested in science struggled to maintain a B, and students who love science had A’s. Just trying to warn you!

Okay I guess I’ll probably take that class for $300, thanks.

English Honors, Physics, and Calculus is a more rigorous schedule than AP Stats and AP lit, “Ap” or not - especially for someone who wants to become an engineer.
However I second the suggestion that you enroll as a dual-enrolled student at your community college (secondary school students enrolled at CCs apply to college as freshmen) since your HS doesn’t seem to meet your academic needs.

Well I cannot take Physics at my local CC anymore, the class is full and it’s too expensive, and i cannot take it in school for obvious reasons. I can take it online only for $300.

I’m even more worried about my AP Bio which is coming out in a few days. I probably got a 3 and it is going to be my only AP score…
