Hi, I am currently a freshman in high school. I am a cheerleader I volunteer at the animal shelter, play piano and took all honors courses this year. I want to take AP world history (the only AP course offered for sophomores)next year but my dad won’t let me as he thinks it’s too stressful. I’m not looking to get into an Ivy League school, but I do want to go somewhere decent. Will not taking this class hurt my chances at all if I take AP classes junior and senior year?
No. That one class will not matter. Perhaps your dad would be OK with you starting out in the AP class and see how it goes. Most schools will allow you to step down if it is too fast.
Also, Senior year barely matters for admissions. You applications often have to be done before your 1st semester is even completed.
Ok. Thanks for your input:)
Senior year matters a lot for admissions. The grades are not so important as the course load that you take. They expect you to continue the grade trend.
