no AP..is this a HUGE disadvantage??

hey there, I'd like to know how disadvantaged i am if i didn't take any AP courses in my high school years..

i'm living outside US, and this country does not offer AP courses..
i tried to take Uni papers anyway, but my school does not encourage students taking Uni courses.. after a long discussion, they said they would allow me to take one, but there were only four people from my school were willing to do this course, which apparently wasn't enough numbers to keep it running.. how silly is that!!

you might suggest IB-but there's only one center which offers it, and it's up in north island and i live down south..and it's too late to take it anyway-few years worth isn't it??

It really is difficult trying to go to US when the systems are so different..

So, is it a disadvantage??

depends on what schools you want to go to

most schools accept over half if not way more applicants

Colleges will judge your application in the context of the opportunities you had. They don't expect you to take courses that simply aren't available to you, and it sounds like you tried your best. If you're very worried about it, ask a school official to write a letter explaining the situation. You should be fine.

it depends on which schools you are looking at.

Search for oasis's self-study thread. He independently studied like 13 APs. I think he lives in China or something.
