***No AP Math Courses*** Please Read!!!

I have a friend who is planning to go to ivy league schools but she is worried about one problem. Her school set her in a regular math class since freshman year of high school and she'll have to continue in a regular math class throughout high school. Do you think not having AP math courses will affect chances getting into ivy league or just Vanderbilt. (All her other classes she's taking are AP btw.)

“friend”

lol just kidding
but it will weaken her application because many others applying will have taken and done well in higher level math classes

But its just a math class right. And if her SAT and ACT scores turned out good (obviously has to be real good) thrn do you think they will care whether or not she took AP Math courses? And yes ‘friend’ lol @ribbonroad224‌

This is kind of a silly question. If there’s nothing she can do about it, there’s no reason to worry about it. What’s the point of worrying about something you have no control over?

Not taking AP Math will obviously make this student less competitive. There are plenty of students at Vandy who didn’t take AP Calculus. There are also plenty who did, and there are thousands of applicants who did. When the school counselor sends in this student’s recommendation, he/she has to judge the rigor of the student schedule compared to others at the school. She might not get the highest level of rigor. Who knows.
