No calculus in high school

<p>Hi all!</p>

<p>I was accepted to Brown as a member of the class of 2018 but I deferred my enrollment for a year to get involved in some service project. </p>

<p>Im planning on studying calculus on my own (similar to AP Calc). My question is this, my highest level of high school math was pre calc. Should I be worried about not having taken a calculus class in high school? Will Picking up Calculus at Brown be extremely difficult? No matter the difficulty, I will study and work hard, but I just want to know if I should do some in depth studying during my gap year. </p>

<p>Plenty of students come into Brown without calc, but if you’re planning on concentrating in the Engineering/Math/Physics area, it may put you at a slight disadvantage when compared to other concentrators. Self-studying or taking a semester of calculus at a local community college certainly won’t hurt.</p>
