I am already taking (or took) classes that complete my pre-dental requirements such as AP Stats, AP Chem, AP Bio, and AP Calc AB . I also took AP USH. I will not use them as credit and I will retake the classes. I’m only taking those classes for experience. So when I take them in college I will be ready. Also they probably will be easy A’s since I already took them. (as a side note do you think I should take the AP Test since I’m taking the classes).
The DAT fortunately does not have a writing section for me to bomb, it does kinda have a CR section, but I didn’t do so bad on the Sat CR section. Also dentistry schools are easier (not a whole lot though) to get into.
Also I do like dentistry I like to work on the human body that is why I wanted to be a surgeon at first. I only changed my mind, because the job is way to demanding I didn’t even mind the 12-15 years.
My parents make enough to pay rent and stuff, but don’t have extra money.
My cousin is low income he said he had a 3.6 W and it’s recurring , but I guess I shouldn’t relay on scholarships, but still towson isn’t even that much. Also someone told me since both me and my brother are going to college we will get alot of financial aid.

also I saw this on the college board
for towson
Average financial aid package: $8,910

That pays for about a whole year

and If I don’t get into a dentistry school at least I will have a degree in biochemistry.

Many med schools and probably dental schools as well do not let you use AP credits in lieu of science req’ts.

They don’t want the last time you took Bio and General Chem classes to be in high school.

Towson…

* Full-time freshman enrollment: 2,398

 • Number who applied for need-based aid: 1,941

 • Number who were judged to have need: 1,275

 • Number who were offered aid: 1,202

 • Number who had full need met: 213

 • Average percent of need met: 67%

 • Average financial aid package: $8,910

You’re not using that data correctly. That is not the average for all students at Towson…that is the average for students who have determined need and received aid based on their EFC.

Much of that average aid package of $8910 includes Pell for low income students, work study, and student loans.

**Since it deals with the “average” amount of aid, the aid packages are going to include ranges like $14,000 for those who qualify for full Pell, Stafford and Perkins loans, and work study to those who only get $5500 in student loans. **

You seem to think Towson is going to give you $8910 in free money. That’s not going to happen. At most you’ll probably get is $5500 in loans and maybe $2500 in work study.

Towson cost of attendance…

In-state tuition and fees: …$7,656
Room and board: …$9,768

Books and supplies: …,…$1,080

Cost of attendance …about…$19,000
(without transportation, misc, and personal expenses included.)

Do you know what your likely EFC is…It’s not just based on income. It’s also based on assets/savings.

Yeah I took those classes in preparation of my college classes I don’t plan on actually taking them as credit. You were doubting I would get good grades when I actually enter college, but if I already take the classes in HS and repeat them in college I would defiantly get A’s in the classes I already took.

By the way I don’t know my ETC will be I was hoping someone could guess that’s why I put my information up.

If I really need it my parents could probably give me money.

It’s hard to guess your EFC because you haven’t given enough info…

You’ve given your dad’s income, but not your mom’s. You haven’t included savings/assets/investments.

You need to ask your parents exactly how much they will spend each year on your tuition, rent, food, books.

Ok, I think your right after looking at how much towson cost compared to CC (which cost about $3500 according to their tuition estimator) that it would be better to go to CC, but if I get straight A’s and maybe 1 or 2 B’s could I get into UMCP.
I actually never paid attention to the rest only the tuition cost.
I probably only need only $5000 a year I am getting a guaranteed security job for $13 an hour and raise every 6 months so that covers apartment and car.

…

You’re not the only one who has made that mistake. People often forget that room, board, and books can cost as much or more than instate public tuition.

If you have a high GPA at a CC, then you’ll get accepted to UM-CP.
