I need a little bit of advice about paying for college. I need to find student loans that don’t require a cosigner even though I’m under 18. I’m paying for college on my own and do not have someone to cosign my loans. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!
Most banks and loan offices will not loan to students with no cosigners nor collateral. That’s just how it is. Most students under 18 cannot sign legal contracts.
The only loans you could receive, on your own, as a freshman would be from the federal government and those are limited to $5500 per year then, divided by the semester=$2750.
That amount would maybe cover your health fees.
Did you apply for financial aid yet?
Are you a U.S. citizen?
You can’t borrow except for the small amount of fed loans in your FA pkg.
Tell us what the situation is. Why are you just dealing with this now?
It sounds like your school is unaffordable. Can you go to a community college?
If you are under 18, you won’t be able to get a loan at all.
If you are over 18, you will need a cosigner because YOU don’t have the collaterol to get a loan in your name only.
How much loan money do you need? Did you already get the $5500 Direct Loan which IS in student name only?
