I got accepted to UCSD and rejected from UCLA this past 12 hours. Wow crazy emotional roller coaster.
Did anyone get emails from either school? I didn't get a single one, they just updated the status pages.
I am so worried there's been a mistake, I can't quite convince myself I'm really truly in. xD

No email for me either.

I didn’t get an email either. I’m still recovering from the shock of acceptance and fighting the urge to call the admissions office to get another confirmation
Congratulations:)

I’m fighting that urge too operaticmimosa. :)

Second part of question:

Did everyone have the major they were accepted for written somewhere in their acceptance letter?
I didn’t. I’m just assuming it was my first choice major, as they didn’t say anything.

I got an email from UCLA that my status changed and then I checked the website and got rejected. No email from UCSD, but thought I would check status anyway and got accepted :). My letter did indicate my college and my major (1st choice). It says this…
“…congratulations on your admission to Sixth College as a major in Interdisc Computing & the Arts!”

whats is it?

No email from either school- rejected from UCLA, accepted by UCSD. And my letter said both: “congratulations on your admission to Eleanor Roosevelt College as a major in Political Sci/Public Policy!” My friend’s said the same with regards to her major/college.

Accepted to ucsd, rejected ucla

congrats apHELP!

same here, no emails from ucla or ucsd.

But…mine just says
“On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of California, San Diego – congratulations on your admission to Revelle College!”

That’s it. Anyone in to Revelle? What did theirs say?

I think that probably means you were admitted as undecided instead of to your major. My friend was admitted to Revelle and her letter stated her major. Did you apply to an impacted major?

I applied to biomedical engineering, so yeah. Should I call them Monday?

Can’t hurt. Maybe it is just a technical glitch! But biomedical engineering is a very impacted major at UCSD, so my best guess is that it’s probably that. =/ Maybe some other undecided admits can tell you more, though.

Why would they do that though? Does this mean there’s a chance that I can’t do my intended major? Weird. Because I wouldn’t want to major in anything else as of now.

Impacted majors are basically the most popular majors at the University. There’s only a limited number of students that can major in anything because there’s only so many spaces in classes, etc. Because of that, impacted majors often have a higher/different selection criteria than the college. UCSD admits you to the university first, then to the major. I don’t know how it works for getting into a major once you’re there, but I imagine it could be done.

Received an email from UCI that my “application status has changed”. Logged in and saw I was accepted.

I expected the same process from UCSD, but no emails other than from Jacobs telling about their school/programs.

Got accepted from both (best weekend ever) and while LA sent an email saying their decisions had been released, I got nothing from SD. Just by chance I checked my account to find I’d been accepted
Don’t like when schools dont send emails!

Alrighttt, nice collegebound9622. Me too!
Didn’t get an e-mail from either school. :\ I’ve received e-mails from both UCLA and UCSD before. What’s going on?

I have a feeling UCSD and UCLA will both send emails to check our status on Monday. Or it could be they’re embarrassed from what happened last year at UCSD and don’t want to risk emails…
