Is their an essay for the Vandy Supplement? I checked and their isnt but im still kind of fishy about it because all my other schools (Rice, Emory, etc.) have supplemental essays.

No supplement essay! FTW!
there is a merit scholarship essay tho if you are applying for those

No essay :)

They got rid of the the "Why Vanderbilt?" essay. Making sure a student is a good fit is not politically correct and they don't have the creativity to find a replacement, that or they just want a lower acceptance rate.

Or, perhaps they just came to the realization that the Why Vandy essay offered little to their deliberations. I mean how many essays started with: When I visited Vandy, I fell in love with [fill in the blank] and just knew Vandy was the school for me, yada, yada, yada. A "Why College" essay also tends to discriminate against those that cannot visit (kinda hard to fall in love with their website pix).

There is probably a good reason why many colleges (including a couple of Ivies) who accept the Common App require no supplement.

According to the admissions people last year during the Open House we attended, they eliminated the "Why Vandy" essay because they were starting to feel that one "snow job" after another did not provide an additional benefit to them. There was a video online last year from the director of admissions where he specifically stated that the interview should fulfill that gap in most cases....and there are other ways to show admissions that youreally want to go there, especially since you can NOW change your common app essay and tailor it to your schools....

how does removing an essay amount to a lower acceptance rate?

^ well if all you have to do is press send again, more kids will go ahead and take a chance at Vandy because there is no additional work. With more students applying the acceptance rate will fall due to the swell in applications and the same number of acceptances offered.

Ridiculous question.

Haha I just realized how obvious that was...

Going back to what rodney said "you can NOW change your common app essay and tailor it to your schools...." is this a good idea.. will it show more initiative... i allready wrote my common app essay and edited it like 50 times do u think its worthing going back and adding infor about colleges.

wait what? once you save your common app u cant go back and change it unless u start a WHOLE new account.

There is some remarkably horrible grammar in this forum. Hilarious irony. Way to go admissions.
