No Gainesville for some UF students? Would you attend UF if only offered Lakeland?

UF president Bernie Machen said this week he is willing to have USF Poly in Lakeland placed in the UF system under the UF umbrella if the Florida legislature approves the move this coming legislative session.

Would you attend UF at a campus in Lakeland? If not offered admission to Gainesville campus, only Lakeland campus?

UF President Says He's Willing to Take on USF Poly If Asked | TheLedger.com

hmmmm? So UF has the dollars to take on a Lakeland branch to become an
independent. eh task academically-- borderline community college operation.

Maybe it is time to take a serious look at possible budget excess ($$$$$$'s) at
the University of Florida. Sounds like UF has money to burn.

Or, maybe we have a backroom deal going on. What does UF really want from
the legislature? I.E., what’s the real deal?

Oh, UF just being a good citizen! LOL

If I was offered admission to only the Lakeland campus, I would honestly go to USF and live in Tampa. The only reason I am choosing UF is that it has a fantastic Accounting program and the Gainesville location is ok. Thus, a change to the location would be a deal breaker in my opinion.

The plan is to increase enrollment at the Lakeland campus from today’s approx. 2000 to 15,000 in a few years. The extra income to UF from all the tuition collected will help UF’s bottom line which is good for all of Gatornation. Some UF students will have to attend in Lakeland though to make things work.

Honestly, I’m not sure. I will say that I am from the Tampa area and seriously considered USF Poly before coming to UF even though it is very new. They have a lot of cool technology programs there that no other state school really offers.
