No go this year

I've been checking this forum almost daily the last few weeks and just heard that my thin white letter should be arriving in the next day or two. After waiting so long as most people on here have been its a tough one to take.

I haven't had a chance to ask what exactly i was lacking but i assume it was my two C+s in my schools 4x math class which was completely my fault and my class rank that was in the 200s out of almost 800 students, maybe i should of waited to send my transcripts till the fall cause i have gotten B+s in AP calc but who knows. Other then that I thought i had a fairly good app, for those wondering , 31 on ACT with a 28 in math and a 30 in reading a 3.6 GPA. I got my eagle scout this fall, and have been running Varsity in track and cross country for the last two years, captain of both, NHS, NASS. I had a congressional in presidential nom too.

I think it will be awhile before it hits me, like many others on here I've been visualizing going to the academy for so long its hard think about not going there. So as of know im going to Marquette University in wisconsin on an NROTC scholarship, take all the classes i would be taking if i were at the academy and give it another try in the fall.

Good luck to all other still waiting, hang tough

Your analyses, candor, courage and sense of responsibility are refreshing. I’m betting you’ll do well @ MU, and that you’re going to make a heckuva officer leader in the USN. All good wishes for great victories!

Best of luck NtN-

keep putting your best effort out there. If you decide to toss your hat in again for the class of 2014, you never know! In the meantime, enjoy MU and NROTC- in the end, you will still be an officer in the US NAVY!

Sorry to hear about that, and it’s pretty disheartening to see that since my resume’ is about the same as yours. Did you have a really competitive district?

Thanks for the kind words everyone its really appreciated

acgeaux7- To answer your question I’m not really to sure. I am in the Minneapolis area so there are a lot big schools around, I’m sure someone on the forum could tell you what ones are competitive.
And about your application, you never know what admissions will do, so just keep your head up, ill be sure to keep my fingers crossed for you this week

You are a class act NtN2007. With your outlook and attitude, you will be extremely successful in your future endeavors. Hold your head high, you will be a fantastic addition to Marquette. Having NROTC in hand is fantastic, go get 'em!
