No good signs...

I haven't received an email from the admissions counselor that read my application, nor did I receive one for the Multicultural thing. Are these very bad signs? It seems like a lot of people got emails about their apps from their admissions counselors.

any signs.

yay that makes me feel better, i haven’t gotten any of these “likely letters” either…

We just decided to get the process organized (at this late date, lol) and put all the stuff dd has received from the places she applied into a big binder. There is NOTHING in the Oberlin section. Creeping my dd out. They are paying attn though, cause we got a remindr re: something to send into the fin aid offic…I think they’re busy…

Last year, someone on the board got an e-mail saying how much the reader enjoyed her essay, got good vibes from the admissions office about her application, thought Oberlin liked her (apparently; I don’t know this person)…she got rejected anyway. Oberlin likes to prove that they can provide individual attention, but hey, it might not mean much. I’m sure most people who eventually get accepted DON’T get signs ahead of time that prove that they’ll be accepted. So don’t take it too hard.

I can’t help but worry anyway. I wish I got a MVP invite. :(

Good. This makes me feel a lot better. I really like Oberlin.

ouch…imagine you are getting a kinda “likely letter” (I really enjoyed reading your essay…) but get rejected anyway.

Jennyheart – please don’t buy into the hype of this message board, most of it’s completely meaningless. Many of the “announcers” of “good” news aren’t telling the entire story and if you knew of their special circumstances, you would relax and realize it doesn’t actually apply to you anyway.

Thanks. True about the announcement of good news… like people thinking that receiving financial aid application status stuff is a sign they are going to get in.

It’s hard not to get discouraged, but you’ve got to remember that it’s absolutely impossible to provide such individualized attention to every applicant or “likely” candidate. Or at least… I hope so.

I love Oberlin. I hope I’m in.

My daughter got in a couple of years ago, EDII, also with no correspondence other that the acceptance letter! That was enough!

Thanks jg0339! It will be more than enough for me.
