No idea what to write

I've been sitting here for about 5 days with nothing. Any idea I get is incredibly lame.
What do I do if I cannot think of a story?

Read the current thread called ‘writer’s block’. Don’t be judgmental about a topic being too lame. If you write something well no topic is really too lame. Make a few drafts and see how it goes and try to avoid cliche, which is really the main thing that will make an essay lame. You just have to make it personal. Have you thought about what about you is important for the admissions committee to know?

That’s just the excuse you’re using because you’re afraid of writing badly.

Start writing. Write anything. Something will come of it.

Like you, I also came up with a lot of ideas but no momentum to actually write an essay. So I started writing whatever came to my mind. I wrote about 100 words for 5 different topics. Then I realized I could incorporate two essays together to make my idea even better. So just write and see where it takes you.

As for more ideas, think about what makes you YOU. If someone asked you the question “who are you?” How would you answer? What is very important to you? What are you involved in? Try to make some sort of metaphor about one of those things or incorporate an anecdote.

Good luck!
