Do you think its a mistake to go to NEU without a lab top?
I'm a bio major, thanks in advance...

Not to be harsh or mean in anyway but its a laP top. And while most students do have their own personal computers, there is always the computer lab you can use to do all of your research and what not.

You can find good, cheap laptops nowadays however.

any websites I can check out to get a cheap one? I’m looking to spend under $400-$600, if not I have a computer I use now… Never had a lab top, also, how do lab tops get internet access … are all new lab tops wireless now?
<sorry if that’s a silly ?

Thanks a lot

[Newegg.com - PCs & Laptops,Laptops / Notebooks,Hewlett-Packard,$400 - $500](<a href=“Are you a human?”>Are you a human?)

These are great for their price and in general. Most laptops nowadays have a wireless card installed. At Northeastern, you can only get Wireless access where there is a wireless connection but in your dorm you can connect through an ethernet cable.

All modern models have wireless internet yes, and you log onto the Northeastern’s internet using your student ID and password.

I highly recommend getting a laptop since a computer’s a necessity, at least to me and a lot of other students.

I’d buy a laptop for everyday use. Those tend to be less powerful, but enough for people who just need it to do schoolwork

you can also buy a netbook which is basically a smaller version of a laptop. it’s good for using the internet and taking notes. you can get one for like $300.

We found a decent Dell (Inspririon iM105R) at Best Buy for $550 . There was a model $450, but it seemed too basic. There were more expensive models available too.

We already had a copy of Microsoft Office to load from a 3-license student pack… I think that runs about $100 if you need to buy it. We also did $100 accidental coverage.

You can also buy Microsoft Office through Northeastern through myNEU for a discounted student price (not sure if it comes with multiple licenses or not).

question. Were you going to bring a desktop computer to school, or have no computer at all?

You would be fine with a desktop, but i would recommend having some kind of computer definitely.

Thanks a lot ! I thought It would be kind of silly for me to lug over my huge desktop… Im still considering a lab top, the $300 one sounds good, I’ll probably go the first week without one… see how it goes, they have open computer labs on campus right?

I know alot of them tend to be packed, but I’m willing to take that chance for now…
