Hi im only a sophmore in highschool
but i am very curious to finding out which colleges offer combined medical programs either BS/MD or BA/MD or whatever else that can be offered but do not require taking the M CAT.
anyone that can help me find which colleges offer this will be greatly apreciated.
Off the top of my head i believe the only colleges i know personally that have combined medical programs that do not offer the M CAT are:
Union
Brown
Rice/Baylor

Also i have come to know that usually the COMBINED programs that are 7 or 8 years long offer the no M CAT. And typically the ACELERATED programs that are 6 years long require taking the M CAT.
So in your reply please post how long the program is.
THANKS
and please post back =)

University of Toledo has a combined 8 year program where you do bioengineering as your major for four years and then med school w/o MCAT. It's considered accelerated because normally at UT it takes five years to get your degree in bioengineering.

A sophomore in HS -- good going on the head start!
I would suggest taking the MCAT and doing well on it, no matter what your program says (this may give you a scholarship, at the very least).
As of now, however, worry about the SAT.

uh yeah i realise that i am kinda looking to far ahead but i really would like to know these colleges so anyone that knows of any other combined mecial programs with no M CAT.
please post back

For programs with MCAT requirements, what happens if someone gets a score below the requirement? Are they allowed to take the MCAT again or are they kicked out of the program?

Just out of curiosity, why do you care whether or not a program requires the MCAT?

I would think because there's a difference between being pressured into doing something and doing it of your own volition. My program does not require the MCAT, but I'm taking it anyway because I want to. I feel that my preparation will be less stressful and determined by self-motivation, which yields more effective results (for me) than pressure-based preparation. I'm sure others are motivated more by pressure though, so they may want to go to programs that require the MCAT.
