No money???

I’m out of state and I got absolutely no financial aid from them. I’m honestly shocked. My EFC is around $30,000 (although even $30k isn’t very realistic for me to spend each year). They basically offered my parents loans, and want me to be $212,000 in debt. This is insane. Is there anything that I can do to appeal the financial aid decision, and is there hope for any significant improvement?

State universities rarely give aid to out of state students. There are a few exceptions (Muchigan, UVA, UNC), but they are very difficult to get into. Appealing isn’t going to help. Do you have an affordable safety?
