no nightlife?

I have asked this question in the ask a freshman thread but I figured I'd get more replies here. I have heard from some people that go to USC that there's no real nightlife for the under 21 crowd. They say parties at fraternities aren't allowed or anywhere else on campus, so all the nightlife is at the bars. So how true is it things get boring at night for underclassmen?

Boring nights at USC, you have got to be kidding? I really don’t think you have to worry about that happening, unless you want it to happen. It is a very friendly and social campus, both in, and out of the Greek system. Not sure about fraternity rules, but my D’s sorority doesn’t allow parties in their house, so they hold them at private facilities. While a freshman she had plenty of things to keep her occupied, and as a parent I worried that there was too much partying and socializing. She’s managed to maintain her grades, but I still worry about this aspect. We’ll see what the students say, but my vote as a parent of a student is that “no” nights are not boring for underclassmen.

From what my daughter has told me, I’ll second Don Ho’s response!

Agree with Don Ho and Lynchburg…D had plenty to do before turning 21…I just rested a lot better once she did…;)

You won’t have a problem finding out and figuring out what to do and where to go.

Same here! Son just turned 21, a junior. He seemed to find tons to do!

Maybe it was just a few wierd students I talked to,but any students who can answer themselves.

sorry i’m responding to this late but i visited usc for halloween weekend (i’m a hs senior this year) and i can tell you that there is definitely stuff to do at night. yes the bar scene is crazy there but they are not strict AT ALL…easy to get drinks and lots of the frats/sororities have their parties at the bars which is even cooler bc they rent it out for just the frat and then let all girls in (assuming you’re a male haha). i can tell you that i definitely got the impression that it was a party school it’s just a different scene than your typical college where all there is to do is house/apartment parties. columbia is actually one of the reasons i loved usc because there are so many more options when going out

They sell a t shirt that says:

“USC…a party school with a football problem”

I think there’s far more than a little truth in that statement…;)
