any other members? i bet people would pronouce it a little better than they do now if my dad knew how to spell when we immigrated here. sometimes i spell it the right way on homework papers, just for the heck of it :)

i asked him if we could change it, and he told me it was too late now. there are only 2 in the state of virginia, because my dad's sister's family lives near arlington. if you guys knew my last name, you could probably find me really really easily.

lol if you type my last name in Google, there's a things with my name and the rest are my dad's or my grandfather's. My sister has a few as well. The only other person of my last name (that I don't know of) on Google is someone name Leda. There's a few in Nova Scotia and Greece as well. :)

My last name is Greek, btw. lol. Barely anyone can pronounce in.

sarorah, what kind of last name do you have? (like.. what nationality?)

Haha, coolness. Have you ever visited? on google map, if you put your name, you might be able to find it. i tried with my friend and another guy in my school (syrian and pakistani respectively) and google came up with their hs location or the college they planned to attend. pretty neat! doesn't work with my name though . . you can try it with you.

i dunno exactly what nationality, it came from my grandfather, who was also a mix of nationalities. it means "the light" in arabic.

its pretty annoying. If they took the time to SOUND IT OUt, they would be able to say it right. its an ibo last name, but it seems pretty simple to me. If I had my mom's maiden name, id understand why they wouldnt be able to pronounce it. They worst part is when they start spelling it the way they think it sounds. It took them all year to get it right on my report card and transcript.

My last name is tricky as it is all consinants except for a y. Yet people are prone not to have it sound like a long i, they make it a short i or they butcher it up even worse.

I am always surprised by the new ways people butcher my name. And it is long also and hyphenated so when I need to spell it out people get annoyed. They breathe a sigh of relief when I say my first name b/c it is not foreign. Most teachers give up on trying to pronounce it after the first week. If there are other people with my first name, they will use initials or omit my last name completely.

My last name is very common, but if you google my first and last name together you get me, uncommon first name.

Really? My first name has a y in it. People rarely ever give it the short i sound, which it's supposed to be. They usually usually give my name a short e or occasionally a long e sound for the y.

been there done that...i even correct teachers, but they forget and keep butchering my name...i just give up after the first week of school...then, the year after, my sister will have the same teacher and the teacher will say, "oh you're so-and-so's brother" and she'll be like, "well it's pronounced like this", and then the teacher will say, "oh well he never told me that"....wut the hell man
