Hi,

I’m currently attending a big community college and I’m applying as a transfer student to the economics department. I’m also an international student and I just noticed is that Brown’s student body has no one from my home country. Do you think that being from an unrepresented south american nation will help my chances of getting in? Anyone has a similar story?

Sometimes I feel like being from Montana in the US is about the same. I grew up in Montana and then attended Brown. Its hard to break it down because, for them, the application is hollistic, but Geographical diversity is definitely a plus. However, it will not substitute for solid academic performance. If you have been able to dominate your community college and your high school performance was solid then you should be fine. A friend of mine from college did what you did and transfered to Cornell. Does this answer your question?

Great, thanks! One more question, what do you think is more important for high school: class rank, or grades. I graduated from a high school in a foreign country and my grades are not that great. However, I am part of the Top 10%

Thanks!
