bump! bump. Anyone?

you know, there is a chance forum for posts like these. That could be why no one has responded…

Not really knowing your exact situation, with your SAT score, 1-4 are unlikely, you might get into 1 of them.

5-11, i’m not to sure about, umich is pretty tough (and expensive), probably high safeties, low matches.

If you can chance other people you can chance yourself. Seriously.

How does “chancing” help anyone?

Everyone is being harsh for no reason. You DID post in the chancing forum, and I think chancing helps people get a more rational outlook on their school so they aren’t heartbroken when a school rejects them. I think it’s impossible to chance yourself because you aren’t deciding where you get in- some abstract third party is. Please chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/942116-chances-yale-uh-oh-middlebury-nyu-etc-please.html

First of all, a few things. I’m not sure how you expect your highest grades to be senior year, and predictions don’t help anyone. Congrats on the self-study 4! Your extracurriculars look good, but it all depends on the extent to which you’ve participated. Is this book going to be published or is it just for fun? What is Youth Congress, and how big of an honor is Secretary? How much volunteer work have you done? etc.

Princeton: With your GPA, it’s unlikely, although top 10% is very good. Apply anyway if you love it

Dartmouth: See above

Williams: see above

Middlebury: Still quite a reach.

Uminn, Twin Cities: This seems more reasonable. I’d say this is a good match.

Illinois, Urbana:Don’t know a lot about the school, but I’ll guess a match

Umichigan, Ann Arbor: this might be a little tougher. Reach.

Purdue: High match

Indiana: Match

Oregon: Match

If there is any way your guidance counselor can explain the difficulty of junior year, that would be to your benefit. On an American scale, a C- average during the most important year of high school is pretty bad, but if you’re still top 10%, i’m guessing most people have similar grades.

sorry about that smiley face- i have no idea where that came from!

Could you tell us where others are your school placed in the past? I think that would give a better picture, your grade are all relative.

Princeton - High reach

Dartmouth - Reach, but more likely than Princeton

Williams - Reach

Middlebury - Reach

Uminn, Twin Cities - Match

Illinois, Urbana - Match

Umichigan, Ann Arbor - Match

Purdue - Match

Indiana - Match

Oregon - Match

I think regardless of what anyone says, everyone has a chance everywhere. I have found so many thread where people with very low scores have gotten into phenomenal schools, and they have wondered why. Anyone has a chance. But I would say don’t get your hopes up too much on the reaches. That way, if you get rejected, it won’t hurt, but if you get accepted it will be a pleasant surprise. If you can, try to get your SATs up a little higher than 2100. Mine are 2210 and people always tell me to get them higher…

Other than that, I say don’t give up hope! Just work hard, end this year with a bang, and also keep your grades up next year!

^Simply untrue, everyone does not have a chance everywhere. There are few mysteries in college admissions. The shockers are the kids with perfect stats who didn’t get in, not the other way around.

Princeton: It’s a reach, sorry to burst your bubble, with that gpa. But try anyways, you never know.

Dartmouth: princeton same

Williams: you have a better chance, but still…

Middlebury: don’t know too much about it.

Uminn, Twin Cities: This is one you should shoot for. high match

Illinois, Urbana likely

Umichigan, Ann Arbor A nationally ranked school, tough, but low reach

Purdue: High match

Indiana: Match

Oregon: Likely.

Overall, your gpa is probably your only downfall, but your weighted one, whatever it is, will help, assuming. Chance me back!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/943151-chance-me-ill-chance-back-pinky-promise.html

The debate only exists for those who have not worked in college counseling for decades.

Okay. Thanks a bunch guys! So i assume, that Uminn is a good shot. But damn, i need aid so i was hoping for middlebury or williams as they’re need blind for int kids as well. Still, lets see. Btw. My school has a history of sending kids to ivy’s even though they’ve got the same junior year gpa as i have got but definitely better SAT scores. So, anyone else?
