no regents or alumni

my stats fall in with the average stats for entering freshman at UCLA

i got no regents or alumni scholarship

does this mean i pretty much got rejected?

or is there still a chance?

Consider that only ~800 are invited for regents. Does that mean that the other 54,000+ students were rejected? No. UCLA accepted about 12,000 students last year. If you got regents, you're accepted -- but if you didn't, then you may or may not have been accepted.

As for the alumni scholarship, it doesn't matter whether you were invited to apply or not. Any applicant to UCLA can apply to that. So don't worry.

nobody got either of those scholarships yet. an INVITE to regents means a good chance of acceptance and an INVITE to the alumni scholarship means as much as the chances any random person gives you here on CC, meaning nothing and i know lots of people who got the invite who were rejected, while other people who did not get any alumni invite who applied and ended up getting it

I always thought that an invite to regents meant an early acceptance.

only a small fraction of the very best students get regents (didn't everyone know this...), and the alumni scholarship is open to anyone who wants to apply (and meets the criteria).

regents does not guarantee admission. nothing is guaranteed until you actually enroll, though getting admitted in the first place is a big step towards getting there.

how many people usually get actually considered for the alumni scholarship? (i mean, getting a response after sending in the application)

I don't know. But the alumni scholarships haven't even been given out yet, so I don't know what you're worried about. =]
