No Roommate?

Long story made short: I signed up for a Sproul Hall double with a friend for 2011-12 but he had to decline his contract and live off campus to save money. I got shifted to another double on a different floor a few weeks later, presumably due to consolidation.

I went to the housing move-in application today and I have no roommate listed anywhere on my assignment. All it says is:

Assignment Information
SPROUL HALL
350 De Neve Dr
Los Angeles, CA 90095
Room/Apartment - 3XX

So am I just in a furnished double room without a roommate for the time being? I didn't think Sproul Hall even had singles. This seems a little strange to me given the supposed housing shortage - not that I wouldn't mind the privacy of my own room for the price of a double.

it could be that your roommate requested ucla to not share their information out.

^I don’t think that’s right, because it still shows my roommate’s first name but says that he didn’t release his info.
My suggestion is to use Ask Housing, they usually fix most of my problems pretty quickly.

Why would you want this problem fixed? I would just show up expecting there to be a roommate and celebrate if one never arrives.

Yeah, you’re basically in a double without a second person. Last year, for fall quarter, I didn’t have a third roommate. It was awesome. (Extra fun bed and closet!)

You just basically have to aware that they could add anyone at any time. So you might have a random roommate someday. Just watch out in case they charge single rates (which they shouldn’t, unless you specify that you want a single and get a different contract).
