No traditional cafetaria on campus?!

@sahmkc I don’t know the answer to your question about the planned on campus dining hall, but there are a ton of places with easy access on the meal plan - my pick would be daily visits to Whole Foods.

Sororities and fraternities are a place where you can stumble out of bed to freshly baked muffins. Lots of the houses have their own personal chefs. You pay for it, but that’s an opportunity if you want something like that.

@preppedparent - I’m not sure a fraternity would be a good fit for my son, but that is something to consider. I looked at the Fraternities listed and saw that DTD was at GW. My husband was a DTD at Mizzou, so he would have that one connection. I guess it really depends on the fraternity’s culture, he’s not a party kid. He would tell you he is a nerd - and he’s proud of that! We will probably go and take a look since we are already in DC. I just worry that he might opt not to eat if he doesn’t have a dining hall.

^^I know what you mean. I have two nerds who went to a boarding high school. One year one lived above the cafe and the other lived above the library. In both cases, it was extremely convenient. Can’t beat it.

I haven’t been on CC for awhile, but I have good news for those worried about dining. My daughter is a freshman, and I was at GW for a visit two weeks ago on a business trip. I asked my daughter to show me the new dining in district house and i was VERY impressed. GW now has a place for food AND community on foggy bottom. It is not a traditional dining hall. It has several individually owned places that are interesting and unique (the greek was really good) and the only chain-type food is the chickfila which was not open then but was going to open soon. Also, once they open the old J Street in Marvin there will be two excellent places to hang out and eat (I assume it will be good… I like the space at least… has anyone heard what GW is putting in there?). Shenkman i don’t count as excellent, sorry, it just is not all that comfortable there. Very impressed with the food and scene at district house.

@bmcmom Excellent review! I’ll have to swing by campus one of these days to check out the new venue.
