No Volunteer Hours

I’m a freshman in Highschool and my parents are not allowing me to volunteer at any of my local places so I wanted to know what are my chances of going to a state college without having any volunteer hours?

Volunteer hours are by no means a requirement (unless your school requires a certain amount for graduation). They’re just another extracurricular that could look good, but not better than any other extracurricular you’ve committed yourself to. So since you’re just a freshman, focus on finding extracurriculars you enjoy and really perusing them

If you get rejected from a state college (or from 99+% of colleges), it will not be the result of lack of volunteer hours.

Volunteer hours are usually just required for private high school students to graduate. Colleges really don’t care I think. If you need hours to graduate, volunteer at your high school, they all always got something going on.

@SamD123 With volunteer hours, you can apply for many scholarships to help pay for college. They’re required for induction to my school’s National Honor Society, plus they can be fun and rewarding. Take a peak at your high school’s guidance page and hopefully it will list scholarships, and google the top 10 or 12 scholarship sites and check them out with your parents. Good luck.
