Hi,
I’m a freshman in a U.S. High School, and I currently have a 4.0 unweighted GPA. I did some research, and found out that my public high school does not offer a weighted GPA. Would this be a problem/deterrent when it comes to college admissions anywhere?
Thanks!
No. Many schools, although usually private, don’t weight.
Universities will look at the actual courses that you take and your grade in each course.
In the US different high schools calculate weighted GPA very differently. This makes it essentially useless. If your high school does not compute a weighted GPA, this will not be a problem at all.
Ok great, thank you very much!
It would only matter if a college takes a high-school-reported weighted GPA at face value instead of recalculating the GPA by its own standards or looking at the actual courses and grades.

Which no competent admissions office would do, IMO.
