if you have not received a letter from NYU, you were MOST LIKELY - but not definitely- rejected. 6 out of the seven applicants at my school have already received their acceptances. it is no coincidence that the only one who didn't (me) has the lowest gpa by far.

Ugh I figured. I had already accepted by like, Saturday, that I was going to be rejected. Oh well. I just want to get that letter so I can move on.

hey, what are your guys' stats? we could probably determine how we stand if we all have similar (and rather low) stats. i had a 2170 sat 3.3 gpa 3.6 weighted. lots of ECs.

ugh. it's april first. most people heard almost a month ago that i know of...so frusterated. nothing in the mail today...

I STILL didn't hear.
I thought everyone was supposed to get a letter on April 1st latest.
Ugh.

Same here, and we live in southern Westchester county, about 30 miles from NYU. This borders on sadism - my D is waiting for another school that hasn't sent out the rest of its responses, either.

Still nothing in the mail today! I am getting so mad.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one in this predicament. I've been getting reject after waitlist after reject and I've had enough. I've only been accepted to Penn State, Pitt and Wisconsin (but my mom opens my mail and forgot to tell me about the housing contract so I doubt I'm going there anymore...) and I'm waiting on NYU and Wake Forest.

Honestly, our mail comes in at around 3 at the latest and it's already 2:44 and still nothing. I'm already not looking forward to college

hah, don't be upset /\ssassin, i have it worse. im pretty sure our mail came already, but apparently NYU's letter is nowhere to be found.

do you guys know if they sent out any rejections to any domestic applicants..namely those to cas??? i hope they have sent out some rejections...

coming from someone who was in training to be an admissions ambassador:

DO NOT CALL NYU. DO NOT CALL NYU.

calling them repeatedly will NOT help because they WILL NOT TELL YOU YOUR DECISION OVER THE PHONE. no matter what you say.

everyone needs to relax a bit. NYU is not cruel, or out to get you, or doing this on purpose. it's real people in the adcom offices, and they're sending it out in batches. everyone will get their decisions soon, I PROMISE.

but please do not keep calling the admissions office. the student ambassadors cannot/will not tell you your decision over the phone.

Would it be possible for you to explain to us why decisions are sent in batches/waves/ whatever? I've seen schools of equal size to NYU send out their decisions in one fell swoop, and it seems to work out rather well. While it may be more efficient for the adcom people, it's really unfair to the applicants. (I don't mean to sound snarky here, as I know you're only trying to help.)

i have no idea. i was in training for the ambassador position but i got the boot during the last round of auditions (doing a fake tour). so i didn't get a chance to peep behind the curtain.

that's one of the mysteries about NYU i guess i'll never know the answer to. :-(

but the people who work in the office are really awesome and nice and really aren't meanies, i swear.

(oh my GOD i cannot stop refreshing this forum today. my lecture is really boring today, but still. holy crap. i just keep hitting refresh wanting to help everyone. :O)

historically...have people gotten into nyu this late??

if that one admissions officer was lying to this CC student on the phone and said that not receiving a letter at this rate does not mean you're defintely rejected, then the school should be ashamed of itself.

Yeah, it's better to just assume you're rejected. A girl in my school got her NYU packet on Monday, so I can't blame my distance anymore... darn.

@your

honestly, what should the admissions ambassador have said? "no, you're rejected at this point"? what would have been the right answer?

they can't say anything committal because people would flip out if they were told they're outright rejected at this point because they might not be.

I got my likely letter/invitation weeks ago and still haven't gotten the offical letter, so it definitely doesn't mean you're rejected.

@missamericanpie:

You guys have to audition to be an admissions ambassador? Probably explains why the NYU tour was the most entertaining of the ones we took. We had a very nice guy from Tisch who was incredibly funny.

@tranquil

it's a four week process of "admissions ambassador boot camp". then we do mock tours, teambuilding exercises and whatnot. all after a paper application process.
