kay so i have a friend in nyc who applied to CAS (i think biology)...didnt get an invite...and got an official letter today...my theory is that there are some acceptances in this latest batch, consisting of predominantly rejections, and that my friend got her acceptance today because of her close vicinity to the school...now please dont take this as a false sense of hope...the odds are probably against us..but it thot i would share

btw its south harmon institute of technology

Why did she get it so late if she's so close to NYU?

im guessing it came in the latest batchthat was sent out on the 31st?

this whole board deserves a special spot on FML. Seriously, NYU is just killing my imagination now.

GWU is a good school for a second choice :)

I haven't heard about any recent acceptances or rejections on CC or in my school so there were probably a lot more acceptances in the latest batch than you think.

i second that...i hope we all get in. and look back and see how nervous we acted

i pray you are right mystique..what makes you think that there will be more than expected

Quick question: do you guys think you have a realistic chance of getting in?

Don't lose hope! I received an invitation and have yet to receive my letter.

Roberto...at this point i am at a loss...i thot all the acceptances were out..but apparently not..my hopes arent to high but they havent quite dwindled

Judging on what others have been saying, there are lesser people who have gotten in. If that's the case, 2012 cannot come soon enough.

lol assasin..you seem borderline suicidal..apparently the acceptance rate has increased for 25% last year to 28% this year...and with more applicants it mite indicate more acceptances

You would think a lot more people would be posting their stats if they were accepted and I found out today that everyone who applied to NYU in my school haven't heard back yet..

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but this NYU forum isn't as active as other forums, like the USC forum. It seems like there are less people who freak out here than on other forums so it's hard to figure out how many were accepted and were rejected so far by NYU since there seems to be less people, or really modest/upset people, who post here...but I don't know, it just seems that way to me...

I think a large portion of the accepted students won't go because a) NYU was a safety for them or b) they can't afford it. So there's still hope... for waitlist. :D

i did some creeping..and last year patterns show very little activity after april 1st..then again rejections were sent out sooner last year..but i agree with you kami...and also the stats seem alot higher than what i expected..i mean there is scarcely anyone with less than a 3.7 and 2000+...

Yeah, it seems mean to say, but I hope the economy gives people a big hard one...uhmmm, anyway what I'm trying to say is if the waitlist does come I'll be signing up.

amanmagoon I really hope you're right on the acceptance. Of course, this would be the first school I'd get accepted into that has an acceptance rate of less than 30%

that was an intense slew of foruming...ill prolyl tty all tomorrow

Aren't selective schools accepting more people this year because of the economy? I heard colleges were accepting more than usual this year since a lot of people are going to pick a state college over a private one because of the high tuition price, especially when it comes to NYU which is known for its bad financial aid.

Yeah I'd like to believe that. But no, as long as the dream exists there will always be that Slumdog Millionaire and the rich spoiled kids who can buy away their future such as myself will be forgotten.

Well so ends another tumultuous day in my life. I guess I'll head out too as well to get some rest and hopefully die in my sleep.

Night
