Applications will open May 6th and my son is definitely applying. Curious to know what the numbers are here... anyone?

It's so tricky because I've booked my flights for move-in, but didn't book for 2 (his one-way) because I'll have to change it if he goes to the NOLA experience. Not sure if it's better to book both now and change later or what. :/

I am trying to talk my son into it. Of course, he is “too busy right now” to focus on anything but baseball and getting done with all that senior year entails. Glad to know the date the application comes out so I know what my timeline is for “making him” look into it.
Thanks!

Mavitale, I can’t remember where you’re from. …do you have Southwest? That’s always easy to change without a fee.

My dd can’t decide if she wants to do it. She thinks it sounds like fun but doesn’t know if she wants to leave home even earlier. I’m staying out of it.

Every student I have ever talked to that did the NOLA Experience was really glad they did. In the big picture, 4 years form now one week extra at home will just blend into that whole summer before college, while they will always remember the fun they had with NOLA.

Our experience has been that most of my kids’ friends have left for college earlier than my kids have had to be there. Once their friends have left, mine have been ready to get on with it too, and the Nola Experience seems like the perfect way to accomplish that. I love the idea of connecting with a group of 20 other students in a more intimate setting before the masses arrive.

We are in NY and don’t have Southwest Airlines as an option. My August flights are on Delta. So far, they have changed my arrival time three times! (same with our flights for orientation).

I’ll check the limitations and book him on my outbound flight now if I can change it later without paying a ton. Maybe taking the insurance will help.

Happy Birthday, FC! Hope you get to spend the day doing something other than posting on CC!!

mavitale - we are in NJ + from my experience, changing flights is very costly…usually insurance involves a medical condition or tragic event w/proof before they permit you to change flights w/o fees. I am going to wait to book anything until DS knows what date he leaves.

I’m going to apply and hopefully participate! I am interested in the outdoors tracks. My friend did NOLA Experience last year an absolutely loved it. She said it was so nice going into the move in day and freshman activities already having a close knit of friends.

I’m planning on applying, but I’m not sure which program I’m the most interested yet. At the moment, I’m looking at the “Down and Dirty” one with canoeing and tubing - that sounds like a lot of fun.
