What advice would you give to a kid who does theater but not musicals? His school’s musicals clashes with his sport and finals so he never did any. What route a non musical kid can take to satisfy his love of theater and to make his resume attractive.
Do you mean that he wants to audition for MT programs, but has only done straight theater so far? Or do you mean that he wants to audition for Acting programs, not MT?
Yes, for acting programs. There is no forum for that so I posted here.
How can he make his resume attractive for theater major? His is a junior and his GPA & SAT is top of the charts but he is getting serious about theater.
@WorryHurry411 - there is a forum for straight theater: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/theater-drama-majors/ Check it out!! Lots of good info over there!
Come over to the theater drama board, @WorryHurry411! There’s a lot that’s the same as MT (auditions, unifieds) but also a fair amount that’s different.
Thanks @Jkellynh17
Thanks @kategrizz
There are far more acting programs out there than Musical theatre programs…I would urge him to look into those. But if he wants to do MT, and if he can sing, the fact that he is a boy certainly doesn’t hurt. I would urge him to take dance classes, and voice lessons. Honestly, your resume is probably the least important factor they consider – it is a conversation starter, that’s about it.
