Non steady grades questions

In high school I was an average kid with all college prep classes and a 3.4 gpa. I was lazy and never challenged myself and when I took my placement test for community college I failed both the english and the math. I was forced to take remedial classes for both subjects in which I received a B+ in english and a c in math (a class along the lines of algebra 2). The following semester I received an A in in college algebra because I put effort in and now I am in pre calc1/2. Considering I took college algebra and got an A and I plan on getting an A in precalc, will the C in a remedial class effect me greatly when applying to transfer colleges?

If you demonstrate that you are doing better in your later classes, it will not be too much of a problem.
