Non-traditional student wants to major in Critical theory/Philosophy

Thank you for your encouragement and kind words! @aquapt

I hope so too. I’m going to stay flexible and open minded to whatever changes I need to make in order to complete my education. I am cautiously optimistic and excited to see what the future has in store.

Hello, thanks for checking back.
If you have time and want to look near home,
look into the Residential College at Michigan state - quite a bit different from the whole university. There’s also Kalamazoo College (philosophy has a very solid great book type major, their distribution reqs aren’t extensive making it easy to take classes in history and literature to complement Philosophy, and a partnership with WMU should the 18-22 old students make you wish for older students. I dont know whether Kalamazoo would allow you to enroll part time. Their calebdar is term basee - 3 courses per term, 3 terms per year).
I originally wanted to point you toward Wesleyan for Philosophy but it’s probably off the books for now if you can’t get into full time college and travel easily. Still leaving it there just in case.
Good luck on your new endeavors!f

Thank you! Thank you! Thank You! @MYOS1634

I will definitely check out the residential college at MSU and Kalamazoo. I really appreciate the closer to home options. They are extremely helpful and I know MSU has a few transfer agreements with my CC. I’ll keep Wesleyan in my back pocket  Hopefully I’ll have a higher gpa when I resume my applications!

Thank you for thinking of me
Please stay safe out there!

Hi there! If you want to look into Kalamazoo College, I’m a student there working on my philosophy major! The head of the department leads the critical theory concentration and I could not recommend his classes more. He’d probably respond very enthusiastically if you reached out  Good luck with everything
