Non-traditional students at MIT?

Hello all,

Well here's the deal. I'm already a non-traditional student, currently attending community college. I was planning on enrolling at Columbia's GS for non-traditional students this Fall, but I'm under strong temptation to just go and get a job as a computer programmer for a while before deciding whether or not to go back to college full-time. I was wondering what MIT's policy is on non-traditional students. Do they consider us? If they do, how common is it to find a non-traditional student at MIT? Also, what are MIT's criteria for who can be considered "non-traditional"? I do love Columbia GS's curriculum, especially the core, but if I do go back to school, MIT is like technology Mecca, so I think I'd rather go to MIT if they accept non-traditional students, though I wouldn't just turn down GS if I got an offer without considering it. So uhm, yeah lol. Any answer is greatly appreciated :)

MIT has a wide variety of students from a wide variety of educational backgrounds. I would call the admissions office directly and ask if you can apply given your specific situation. Good luck. :)

Non-traditional students use the same application as traditional students, and are more than welcome to apply.
