Non-traditional ways to pay for Cornell, and colleges in US in general ??!

Hello everyone!

Pretty much what the title says, I am looking for different ways to pay for college. I am an international applying for Cornell University, and from what I learned, Cornell doesn’t seem to give much aid to internationals (both people accepted to Cornell last year in my high school got zero aid). However, one of those two people told me that she got personal benefaction which pretty much covered the 60k $ (aka some types of scholarships/aid from some organizations). This kind of pay is not mentioned very often, and I am wondering how does it work? My family cannot pay more than 20k$ per year without going broke :frowning: I don’t really know how to start, so I am asking on CC. Please help me if you’ve had experience with asking for aid/scholarship from sources outside university.

Thanks a lot!!!
