Non wrist fitness tracker, steps and stairs

Does anyone know of a non-wrist fitness tracker that tracks your steps and also stairs/floors? There are plenty that don’t have the altimeter, but I am not finding the perfect mix for a gift.

Post in the health and fitness thread. Might get some hits there.

Other than an iPhone, this article suggests that there doesn’t seem to be a non-wrist pedometer that counts stairs climbed.

Oh interesting. I have a several-year-old clip on Fitbit that counts stairs. I guess I need to be extra careful not to run it through the washer!

I wonder if you can find a refurbished or used one on eBay or somewhere. I think it’s the “Fitbit one”.

My daughter had a friend who had the Fitbit (One, if that’s what it’s called) and she liked to pin it to the inside of her uniform because they weren’t allowed to wear the wrist version for games. I think it did do the stairs about as accurately as the wrist one, which I only found to be approximate. I’d go up and down the stairs several times a day and it only would count some of the trips.

Yep, I used to have a FitBit One, when it finally died I tried some off eBay, but they kept dying quickly. I don’t understand why Fitbit did away with that one yet the new non wrist one has sleep and a jillion health surveys, but not altimeter. I do a lot of stairs so like to track that.

There are specific stair climbing apps - depending what type of phone you have, and if you carry your phone. But also as mentioned many phones already track (not sure of the efficiency) stair climbing.

Is there a specific reason against a wrist piece???
