Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (Yale) - any experience?

So relieved that my D19 was able to secure her first fellowship program! If you remember me from past summers she had been waitlisted at several for the past 3 years and told by each festival - it’s an honor to be on the waitlist! But it only felt like close but no cigar!

So she is over the moon. So far they are still planning to be in person. In light of covid they have restricted the camp to only strings and piano.

I was wondering if any of your kiddos had been to this program? Just looking for any insight.

Wishing everyone a productive summer and hopes for return to normalcy as much as possible!!

I don’t have details but I know that for composers, Norfolk is top notch. Not sure but I would think there would be some chance to play contemporary classical aka “new music” or pieces by the composers attending. For others:

@Pixieberto Thank you! She is a junior this year at a conservatory.

@compmom the new music camp happens at a different time so no way to overlap.

@Violinmomaz I wasn’t really referring to the new music workshop (which I know about for composers, and I don’t know much about the chamber music program, as I said). I do hope that students get to play some 20th and 21st century works!

And you are right, there may not be any guest composers for the chamber music program, only visiting instrumentalists (strings and piano this year?).
