Yea so I applied EA, and worked really hard on my essays. A current Chicago student said they were really good, but I feel like they aren't that wacky or crazy. Does chicago really want off-the-wall unusual essays?

You do not need an off the wall essay to get into UC. It helps, but lots of people get in with "normal" essays. Some even get in with their common app essays. It mostly needs to be your own voice and show who you are. How you can answer one of their quesitons with a normal response is beyond me, but then again, I did a topic of my choice.

They simply want to see how well one handles ideas, and that one fits at the University.

My essays weren't wacky or crazy either.

Try not to worry too much.

;)

Okee Dokee. I'm counting down to December 15th...

Huh. Mine were pretty down the line. They weren't high-collared-ly formal, but they weren't downright wacky either. I didn't even know most people went wacky! Well, nothing more to do until the 15th... yipes!

Yeah, I think it's not a good idea to write a wacky essay if you're not a wacky person.

an interesting person isn't necessarily a wacky person.

i'm counting down with you!
