I live in North Dakota and I got a 204. Far worse than I had gotten on practice tests, but will it qualify? In recent history the cutoff score has been 204 but not any higher. It appears as if students did better this year than in recent years. I would like to attend University of Chicago or Boston College and this would be a good morale boost. ;_;

Just don’t get any C’s or suspensions!
I’d say this isn’t an absolute morale boost.

Thanks, DumbArse.

It is highly probable (but not certain) that you will be NMSF.

You are also fortunate to be from ND because you are a candidate to fit geo-diversity goals. Many competitive schools out of the Midwest are looking to “collect” students from your state (often one male and one female, as if they were Noah’s Ark). I have been in a couple of information sessions where the speaker semi-seriously asked if anyone was from ND and, if so, to stay to talk after the session. And you’ll find many schools advertise that they have students from 47, 48, or 49 states. Invariably one that they are missing is ND.

So would it be safe to choose New York University as a “fallback” college in case I can’t get into to my first choices?

SAT: 2100
ACT: 34
SAT II (Math II): 780
SAT II (Bio M): 680
GPA: (pretty ****ty) ~3.7

NYU can only be your safety school if you know that your parents will pay the costs. NYU gives lousy aid, so it can’t be your safety if you can’t afford the school.

What is your rank?

I agree fully with mom2collegekids and would add that, with a 33% acceptance rate, NYU shouldn’t be your ONLY safety even if you can afford being full pay.
