So, I'm from a rural NW minnesota town and was wondering about my chances for NYU (CAS)... here are some stats.

GPA-3.959 UW
ACT-27 (29 if they do superscore)
Rank-Top 6% ( if they weighted i'd be 1 or 2)
EC-Class President 3 years
Key Club President
Jazz/Pep Band
Mathleague
Knowledge Bowl
Envirothon
Attended international science fair
I have taken the hardest course load at my school
AP's-English, History (we only offer two, sadly)
Well i think thats about it... also i was deferred from columbia last week.. and i'm pretty upset, so i just need to know where i stand. THanks!

I have no idea what so ever whether to apply or not. I am so confused! Im a freshman at the University of Houston-Main Campus, first year student. Finished my first semester. It was excellent. 21 hours (including summer and winter) and a 4.0 GPA. Deans list. Taking 15 hours next year and hope everything goes well. My high school record plain sucks. 217/621 rank. 1040/1600 SAT scores (540 math/500 verbal) 3.215/4.0 GPA. Got pretty good extra-curriculars. I believe NYU doesn't require a mid-term report, but im not sure? Would ALL my hours from my first year be considered in admission? I want to major in business, but will apply as an undeclared major, so any chances on that? Overall, should I consider applying? As in do I have a chance to get in as an undeclared major? Does NYU require reccomendation letters from transfer students? If they don't, is it okay if I send them in anyways? And does anyone have any idea what I should write about in the "Talk about what you did last sunday. (Or the sunday before that, or before that...) I'm done with the rest of the essays, but just need help on this one. If you have any idea, please let me know soon! Thanks!

As to deferred ?----I would say match (50/50) The ACT is low and if gets to be a very competitive RD pool you could have a problem. They will look at GPA and see a lack of APs. Still best of luck. You are in the mix for sure.
