North Halls - thoughts?

Hey everyone :)

I've been accepted to Penn State UP for fall as a theatre major. I haven't fully committed to it yet as I'm still waiting to hear from a few other schools (that unfortunately won't let me know a thing until late march) but I had a few questions about the housing - north halls to be more specific.

I'm going to be turning 20 in October ( I was born and raised in Europe and we have one more year of high school than America and then I had to take a gap year as well) and I really like the whole suite situation, especially having your own room in some cases. My only problem is that I've heard north isn't a very social place and it's a lot harder to make friends there. I'm a very social person and I'm always up for doing something yet I also play close attention to my studies. North also seems like a good place for me since they have a special living option for my major. Does anyone know if what I've heard about north halls is true? Is it still a social place despite being more quiet? Are there some freshmen living there or is primarily upperclassmen? What exactly is the differences between normal housing and a special living option?

Also, I was wondering when is it considered 'late' to let them know about your housing preferences? I don't want to get stuck with supplemental housing and I'm just worried that by the time I hear back from the other schools all the housing might be taken...

I hope to get some replies :)
Thanks!
