Opie, the US of A have tried to negotiate with NK about disarmament talks, but what has happened? Nothing, your philosophy is a pacifist approach, weak, indecisive.
True, I have never fought in a war, BUT you have certainly not lived during a nuclear attack. If we continue to sit quietly in our little, peace loving country with incessant peace talks, nothing will be accomplished. You probably have heard the famous maxim, "Military action talks"
So, Opie, shall we continue this pacifist attitude you so dearly ascribe? North Korea hates with us with a terrible resolve; shall Kim Jong-Il hold back this grudge with his ICBMS which could easily reach the American coast. Wow, Opie, you have been living in Mayberry to long to actually believe that Kim Jong Il will continue his "peace"

Perhaps you, friend, have the disadvantage, no es verdad?

General Lee,

What on earth makes you think I'm a liberal pacifist? I admit that's a real "hip buzz word" but hardly who I am.

Why should NK disarm? Cause you don't like it? What's in it for them?

Why don't we disarm? CAUSE IT WOULD BE STUPID FOR US TO DO SO. (how's that for liberal :) yea you know me...)

WHY do you expect NK to do something we wouldn't do? Do you think they're stupid? Underestimation of an opponents reslove is why we're in the mess we're in now. We THINK the other side should be willing to do something we aren't willing to do ourselves and then are suprized by the outcome.

It isn't just liberal pacifists that think this administration is a bunch of idiots. They've made just about every arrogant mistake they could in underestimating the situations they have put troops into.

I agree with Murtha that a just over the horizon presence is a good idea. It has worked since GW sr. established it and was still working when Jr. invaded. North K hasn't done anything but rattle swords since the 50's, cause we're just over the horizon there as well.

NK is mad that the UN has offered Iran a sizable ecomonic package to stop Nuke production. They want the same AND assurances the US will not attack if they give up their nukes. Since we aren't willing to do guarantee we'll not invade, they aren't going to dismantle their only deterent to US. Kim Jong's fear might be based on the AXIS of Evil speech a while back. Look how upset we are with Iran's leader's comments on Isreal. Are the only stupid remarks coming from Iran and NK? "Bring it on..." "mission accomplished"....etc..

You know general Lee, I often sit on my porch with my shotgun watching my yard..:) I have enough respect for my neighbors not to threaten to harm them, but I also want them to know they shouldn't think about coming into my yard without my consent. :) We may trade apples and pears, but each of us knows not to take what isn't ours.

"BUT you have certainly not lived during a nuclear attack"

But I did have to practice crawling under my desk in case of a nuke attack. :)
