Hi I am a first year architecture student at Pratt Institute.
College GPA - 3.0
HS GPA - 3.8
SAT - 1910
With these grades what are my chances for transferring into Fall 2018 as a second year architecture student? Not sure if Northeastern will take into account Pratt’s grading system with the project classes. (If your projects meet the requirements you get a C. If your work is above the average its a B. If your work is one of the best its an A). I’m really interested in Northeastern’s Co-op program and its overall student life. Pratt has a nice rank, but student life is very limited. I was rejected by Northeastern when I first applied for Fall 2017. However, maybe my chances are better if they see I’m a Pratt Student?
I think I heard somewhere that a GPA above 3.3 puts you in the transfer applicant pool - don’t quote me on that, but 3.0 does seem a little low. Maybe wait another semester or two and see if you can raise it?
@PakM56 Have you already applied or are you asking? I am not sure of transfer app deadlines. I would suggest that you contact the arch department at NEU as it is a small dept and express interest, ask them some of these questions, etc. (Leave out that that were not admitted the first time. . I would imagine that they will want to see a portfolio of your work from Pratt - both some arch work but more importantly free-hand drawings, etc. Also have you met the basic CAMD transfer requirements of an English writing class and Math equivalent or calculus? But I would just call the department and speak directly with them about the info you are needing to know.
@twicemama. I haven’t applied yet. The deadline is at April 1st. I have English writing classes, however I passed the math exam that let me not take a math class this year. Thank you for the information
