Northeastern Class of 2027 Official Thread

Could someone share the admit days for NE for Boston, if they have that info…Just curious when they are?

Weird update- the Northeastern portal, when I log in, shows that I now have two applications linked to my account. One of them is labeled as “transfer” which shows my admission, and the other one shows that I’m still deferred. So I know I got into the global scholars program, I’m just assuming this is a glitch. Is anyone else having this issue?

I’m pretty sure it’s automatic but if they linked you a website about the program it should tell you there

This is normal for students admitted to NUin or Global Scholars. Technically you are considered a “transfer” to the main campus after the first semester or year. For some reason they keep the original main campus application in the system, and add a second “transfer” application.

Yes, NUIN is just first semester abroad with automatic transition to Boston campus in Spring of frosh year.

That’s great! Thanks for clarifying this. It almost felt like a “conditional admit” being chosen like this. When we clicked “yes” for global scholars, the question specifically used London. So we weren’t ready for this. We’re living overseas at the moment so this actually works for us. Thanks!

They have made it very clear to us that N.U.in isn’t a conditional or consolation/secondary admit. It is a place they put 1/3 of their freshman class and they try to find the kids that fit the program best. After EA, the stats/activities of N.U.in kids were in line as Boston kids so it’s definitely not a second tier of student.
BTW, N.U.in and Global Scholars are different. N.U.in isn’t in London this year.

Global Scholars is different than NUIN. NUIN is a first semester abroad program. Global Scholars is a first year out of Boston program, usually one semester in London, one in Oakland, CA.

Then they also have admission to the Oakland campus with a transfer option to Boston after the first year or admission to London, which is a three year program in London. Be sure to read your admission letter carefully.

@twicemama @mom2023SF Truly appreciate the info and reassurance on this. She was given Madrid or Greece for her compatibility with Comp Sci. But I think she’s eyeing Paris. Thanks!

My son was accepted yesterday into the Global Scholars program for computer science. This decision was after he was deferred EA. He probably will want to go to an admitted students day to learn more! Not sure what classes are offered towards the CS major in the other locations. It is going to be a hard decision for him!

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

My impression was that you can’t use merit aid for the global scholars year…or am I reading that wrong?

(My son applied EA, was deferred, and was just accepted to global scholars.)

I think Paris is full, BUT your daughter can SUPER easily change her major within her portal. That will give her different options. My daughter is torn between Economics and Computer Science. Decided to change her major to Economics to have more N.U.in options. She did the change before the locations were released, but it updated her portal instantly and she was offered locations for Econ and not for CS.

Have any RD decisions come in tonight (Thursday)? Maybe the next wave won’t be until next week :woman_facepalming: The wait is tough!

Did any international applicants receive a decision yet?

Congrats on your D23. You mentioned changing majors on the portal. Is changing majors at NU something that’s easy to do along the way? Thanks again!
