Hi,
I am currently considering applying to Northeastern University in the fall, but I’ve been hearing rumors that the staff and faculty of the university don’t really care about their students. I was wondering, for anyone who actually attends the school, if this is true.
Also, I emailed my admissions counselor a few weeks ago along with a few other schools, and every other school I emailed got back to me within three days, but my Northeastern counselor has yet to email me back.
How attentive are the staff at Northeastern? Is it clear that they care about the students and their wellbeing?
I’d say it’s important to distinguish staff versus faculty here. The administration can be a bit bureaucratic for sure (housing office, work/study, FA, registrar, etc), but virtually every professor I had deeply cared for students and their field. When it comes to bureaucracy, its often just emailing a second time or being shuffled around between offices a bit. So there’s a bit of truth on the staff/admin side, but I’d say not really for faculty.
If your email to your admissions rep is important, I’d follow up on that email generally. Admissions counselors tend to get pretty busy given that the school gets 50K+ applicants.
