Northeastern Promise (Financial Aid)

The Northeastern Promise, according to their website, states the following:

Northeastern University Scholarship and grant funds will not be reduced during your undergraduate program (for up to eight in-class semesters).**

**Students must file the FAFSA each year and meet satisfactory academic progress standards to be eligible for Northeastern University grant funds. Students must maintain the minimum cumulative GPA required to be eligible for any scholarship funds.

Would I be correct in interpreting this to mean that, even if my family’s/my own financial circumstances were to improve, my financial aid package would not be decreased? My income would go up significantly due to co-op, and it’s possible that my family’s income would significantly improve as my parents gain more ability to relocate after my sister and I are both in college. According to their NPC, we could definitely afford the 4 years of the COA provided. However, I don’t want to do a coop and having to forfeit any savings from it because the financial aid office evaluates my EFC to be higher.

Correct!

Beyond that, your co-op income will not be counted in financial aid regardless of if the Northeastern Promise existed or not, as that was already a part of school policy before this existed
