@alizarin they likely aren’t going to release more until then, from what i’ve seen. the february releases were mainly honors, and if you look through the RD decisions from last year there are plenty of kids with stats similar to your daughter’s that got denied or waitlisted. they are also likely being extra careful this year as they had an extra 15% increase in applicants and over-enrolled last year.
I guess much has changed in 3 years with Northeastern. My son had lesser stats 3 years ago and got in honors and 28K per year scholarship. Although he liked NEU, he chose another school. Do they know that someone’s sibling turned them down?? Or, is that too much to keep up with, I hope???
honestly i think it would be too much to keep up with but i have no idea, and i dont think it would factor in too much. but yes a lot has changed in that time, i have a 1320 SAT and 3.91 and odds are i will get rejected unless the adcom really likes my essay and EC’s. your daughter sounds right in the middle range and very qualified esp if her subjective materials were good so even if they do reject a lot of very qualified students nowadays she has a good shot. we’ll know soon either way! @alizarin
anyone thinking 3/13 or 3/15 for RD release date?
@iwanttogotoneu Based on past years those are the 2 most likely release dates.
I think Northeadtern might have some serious Tifts syndrome going on.
@alizarin Tufts Syndrome? Here on CC some people urge applicants to “love the school that loves you”. From a college admissions office point of view it would be “love the applicant who loves you”.
My D was deferred EA and just wrote a letter of continued interest to the admissions office - lets see if it makes any difference as lots of applicants were deferred this year
I did the same @stepl100
is it too late to send a loci?
Maybe but cannot hurt - still 2 weeks until they finalize and send our decisions
Last year RD results started to be issued 3/15 late afternoon - I would expect similar this year - likely 3/14 or 3/15
@alizarin My DS20 was admitted into NEU Honors program but went elsewhere and my DD22 just received admittance into Honors Program with 28k merit. So they apparently did not hold it against her that her sibling declined NEU 2 years ago. At our high school over the past 3 years, there doesn’t appear to be any “Tufts Syndrome” with regards to NEU according to Naviance. But it does seem like other posters are experiencing the “syndrome” from NEU.
Did anyone else who got deferred EA’s deferral letter disappear from their app status page? Mine was there a few days ago but is gone now…
@jwbbb7 nope, mine is still there! It’s at the top right corner, right?
Yeah I think that’s where it used to be, but mine isn’t there anymore. I’m confused! @greeneandh
Yeah that’s weird since mine is still there… maybe they’ve made a decision on you and updated the portal? Not sure, just speculation @jwbbb7
yep, my deferral letter is gone too.
Yeah I’m really hoping that it means we’ll hear back soon!! My portal looks the same though still, other than the letter being gone.
Mine is gone as well. Does this mean we were potentially accepted??
