ALSO does anyone know where the scholarship information is? Is it with the decision letter or with the financial aid letter? I’m guessing I didn’t get any but I just submitted Proof of US Citizenship (bc I was born outside of the US) to the IDOC so I don’t have an updated FinAid letter
There’s a stickied thread with a basic info/FAQ and links to the website with info about cost and such. Generally the cost will be higher due to travel expenses and then normal once back in the spring semester.
There should be an option to switch your major now on your myNortheastern portal once you make an account. Making an account does not commit you to attending.
@musiciangoaler Majors are very easy to switch between at Northeastern and generally doesn’t cause any issues. You are admitted to the entire university, not a specific school or major. I haven’t personally heard of a major change request before Fall being rejected before.
Hi All- does anyone know the admissions stats for Northeastern for the class of 2023? Someone told my daughter it was around 16-18%? The SAT/ACT and GPAs of all the top schools look over the top amazing! Getting in to any of the top 100 or so colleges seems almost impossible so congrats to all who got in somewhere! You did it!
@Elvisdadog They have not been formally announced but last year the acceptance rate was 19% and this year saw a 1% lower EA acceptance rate than last, so 18% would be a good guess for now. SAT/ACT/GPA are likely similar to last years, as shown on the admissions website.
Boston is generally a safe city and crime generally has been pretty low in most cities for some time, declining for decades. Northeastern itself is pretty centrally located and surrounded by plenty of good neighborhoods (Fenway, Back Bay, Symphony, Longwood Medical, etc. Boston is small compared to the huge cities of the world (NYC, Tokyo, London, etc) but is a pretty solid size. If you’re seriously considering Northeastern it is probably a good idea to visit.
@musiciangoaler You can change your major. Shortly before my son attended his orientation he was sent a survey and he was asked if he wanted to change his major.
Huge thank you to everyone that supported above. I am officially going to change majors from Business Ad. to Criminal Justice. I was really surprised and happy to see this major in Northeastern is also ranked very high in the US. @PengsPhils or anyone do you guys know which one is more recommended?
Is it harder or super different taking just criminal justice v. criminal justice + philosophy?
@musiciangoaler Take what interests you between them, the combined majors are there to allow just that. I don’t think any of them will be more challenging than another.
@zzd857 Congrats to your Daughter! Pretty much same stats here, 36 ACT, Deans scholarship for 24k/ year. I was wondering about the Honors College as well, I didn’t see anything about it in my portal so I don’t think I got in, however, I think students may be able to apply to it after enrollment as well.
You can apply to get into honors after your first semester - but you won’t be able to live in honors housing until sophomore year (if you are accepted - you will need an almost perfect first semester GPA to get admitted). I do know of at least one person who did this successfully.
I really want to attend NEU and am 90% sure I will be attending.
But I am from California and I did not apply for any financial aid then. Is it too late to apply? I am worried the Nu in program will add to the cost and make it super expensive. My family does not have a lot of money.
Do you guys know how much (if I do get financial aid) support and money I will receive?
@musiciangoaler It will depend entirely on your families financial situation. No one can guess an amount. Northeastern is need aware so at this point you may not get anything.
