I still cannot view my decision. Anybody else? Getting scared…
Got into NUin but am short $100k! (lets goooo, there goes my dream school…) Shoutout NE for not giving me any money Could have taken out loans/called family members/used my own $20k if they had given me something.
To clarify, I was deferred from NU but I still don’t see a decision in my portal.
Anybody else in the same position as me? Anybody get their results after getting deferred?

I had a strong personal essay and strong summer programs (as well as test scores) that I feel ultimately pulled me up despite having a fairly low unweighted GPA. Granted, the GPA is brought down by challenging math courses beginning in 6th grade that are on my official transcript. Total of 16 A’s and 2 B’s since Junior year.

For the past two summers, I have taken classes at Rutgers University. I also went to Girls’ State this past summer.
SO they had me waiting for 4 months and now I have to wait even more…great… good luck to everyone else because I think my luck ran out.
I also visited NU with my friend, but I didn’t sign up for the tour with my name… so maybe they thought I didn’t show enough interest even though they claim it doesn’t matter much (according to data set)
Accepted!
SAT/ACT (Superscore): 1520 (not super scored but didn’t do writing component)

A few years back they had an issue with housing and people were put into a hotel apparently??? never met anyone that lived there or could really confirm though. However, the hotel that everyone says is like a 5 minute walk from campus, basically on campus. This year, most of my friends lived in apartment style housing when we came back in the spring, some even had singles with shared bathroom kitchen and living spaces
Son Accepted.
Chemical engineering
Bangalore India
IB student Predicted 37/42
SAT not submitted
Normal extracurricular nothing
No scholarships offered. Do they offer later or nothing? US 78k per annum is excessive.
Congrats to all students for your hard work and dedication
Please wait for a little more time. You will get in.
Is NUin easier to get into?
To dispel that myth and add a little perspective, my son chose NU.in as his preference and did not get in.
Stats:
1440 SAT
3.6 UW / 4.59 W
Unique and meaningful ECs
Great Recs
Legacy
I think it just depends. If you look back in this thread, there are many who were accepted or waitlisted RD with lower stats and some who were denied or waitlisted with higher stats. The decision can relate to how you compare with others applying from your own school/area, if they think you will enroll, etc.
Am i the only one who is unable to access the applicant status check? I haven’t gotten an email yet but I’ve been trying to access it.
Accepted into NU in (studying Supply Chain Management in the Business school) even though BEFORE coronavirus I didn’t want to study abroad during freshman year and said so in my application… I really don’t like that they admitted me for something I specifically said I didn’t want to do - they should’ve given my spot to someone else who was actually interested in the program.
White female, NJ
1580 SAT, 3.86 UW / 4.35 W GPA (9th-11th)
10 honors classes and 5 APs
Very competitive HS, no class ranking
Leadership, volunteering, NHS, choir/a cappella, government club, sports up to JV, family responsibilities
Strong essay and recommendations
I also find it ridiculous that they expected me to pay FULL PRICE (~$73k/year only in direct costs). That is not even close to possible for my family. For comparison, I got into Villanova’s Business school and Honors Program and their direct cost came out to $60k with aid (still too expensive), and I got large merit scholarships from Fordham and Stevens that brought their direct costs down to about $40k each (STILL stretches). May end up going to Rutgers purely because that’s my state school and their price is the best, but even they didn’t give me much ($3,500/year in merit…). I also thought I’d get more aid from Fordham since I have triple legacy, but nope. Feeling very defeated by this whole process. Northeastern was my last decision but at least it’s going to be my easiest decline by far.
@MorCoffee I agree with you. I did, at first, believe that NUin took kids with lower stats, but they did not even offer that to my son who was flat out denied with 1460 SAT and 3.75 UW (from MA). He is a double legacy. I’m sure you got that fluff piece in his rejection letter about how much the family relationship to NU means. Ok, thanks. But, yes its got to be more than just putting the lower stats kids in NUin for the reasons you mentioned that I have noticed in this thread as well.
@Charlie2772 Totally agree. It’s unfortunate and frustrating.
@Sridharan Any merit scholarships should be available in your acceptance letter. NEU does not award need-based aid to international students. It’s likely that you didn’t get awarded anything.
@PengsPhils if there is no mention of merit aid in the letter does that mean we get zip? This is the first school that hasn’t offered something…we have letters to provide the school…do you think we could negotiate even a small merit offer? Stats are not super high (1400 SAT, 3.94GPA)
@CBSQandA Correct, merit is explicitly stated if offered. Merit appeals don’t typically work even for high stat applicants, but given that both your GPA and SAT are in the 25th percentile I would be doubtful of merit. Appeals have been found to work sometimes for financial need based aid, but that would be a different criteria of course.
