Northeastern University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2023 Admission

NEU is literally the last one to release their EA but they are the first one to release their RD. This doesn’t make sense, if they are so burdened by the no. of applicants why they release their RD so early???

Isn’t RD April 1, like most institutions?

They released RD results on March 16th last year.

What time (approximately) would a decision come out for someone in NY? If anyone knows- there is so much ambiguity!!!

UVA EA is February 15th!

In the past few years decisions start to come out at 5 PM Eastern. NY would likely be in the second wave around 6 PM. But this year the past may not apply to the present.

@TomSrOfBoston or others…

Does anyone now ~ how many early (ED 1&2 + EA) vs. regular applications NU received last year? Wonder if it’s split 50-50 or lopsided.

Thanks

Does anyone know when Texas decisions have historically come out?

i vaguely remember reading that there were about 4000 ED 1 and 2 applications last year.

don’t know the split… but this year combined they got over 96,000 applicants and will likely admit around 10,000 for about 4,000 spots (assuming people say no). So its really like a 10% acceptance rate

IF they follow the same pattern as last year, it would be in a later wave around 7 or 8 PM Eastern. And that is a big IF.

But this year could be quite different.

They released the wave on Saturday randomly, right? Barring them all being NUin acceptances, there didn’t seem to be a regional pattern.

Guys when did the nu.in decisions come out

I wouldn’t use Saturday as an example, since that was an unplanned decision release. I think they rushed those out as fast as they could, after the emails leaked.

The first one posted on this thread was around 4:38PM ET. Hang on…I’ll find my Magic 8 ball…

agreed – Saturday decision release was not typical, and not as planned

Then when do you think the decisions will come out?

Best guess would probably be in the late afternoon / evening today, but really I have no idea. I am sure they are doing their best to get all the decisions out as quickly as possible, while also trying to avoid any more glitches, portal errors, or (heaven forbid) mistakes.

Good luck to you and to everyone waiting!

Once a student gets the email to check portal, does it matter whether they use their iPhone or a laptop to check? Will decisions be visible both ways? I know some of you mentioned glitches or not seeing certain messages when using an iPhone.

My son’s portal really hasn’t changed at all since the financial aid checklist appeared so hoping that’s not a bad sign.

Also if the prediction is correct that they have 96,000 applicants and will offer 10,000 spots (expecting 4000 committing) is that 10K for the Boston campus? And do we know how many deferrals they typically give? I suppose they could defer a ton of students and then just revisit when they start to get solid numbers of acceptances.
