It looks like COE options are Thessaloniki Greece; Dublin; Florence Italy; Belfast Northern Ireland; & Madrid. Lots of choices!
Khoury on the other hand looks like only Thessaloniki & Madrid.

What are the best options for business and computer science? Also looks like they donât have a meal plan for most of the locations.
We are waiting to see in our daughterâs portal, but it seems from past years that majors combined with Khoury go to Khoury locations for NU.in. My daughter is CAMD/Khoury and prefers the CAMD locations, but will be happy to go to Greece if that is her only option (sheâs too young for Madrid)
The example Plan of Study for the Computer Science and Business Administration major shows more computer science courses for freshman year fall, so it makes sense that you might need to go to one of the Khoury locations. But the NU.in site does have that note about combined majors needing to check the âApplication Status Checkâ to see if they are eligible for a location.
Are you referring to this FAQ answer on the NUin site?
How do I select the location I want to attend?
Location selection involves two steps: First, you must submit your first enrollment deposit via your Application Status Check â click on âN.U.in Enrollment Deposit.â This deposit must be completed before you can select your location. Once you have made your first deposit, you will be able to select from all of the locations for which you are eligible by age and planned major.
I think many people would like to have a way to check suitability of the various locations before committing to NUin. Is there something else on Application Status Check that allows this?
I know this was mentioned already but in case anyone wanted to see the letter, I saw this posted on another site. This doesnât impact my son (he applied EA and was deferred to RD) but it does sound like NU is listening to parent feedback and complaints.
Will this create more overcrowding on the Boston campus?
Not really liking the NU.in sights
you are 100% correct. We definitely did not want to go to Oakland, the 8th most dangerous city in the United States. northeastern has recently announced that the original Oakland admits now have the option to transfer back to Boston after one year in Oakland! sounds like there just isnât enough demand and people are really upset about being admitted to a place that they had no interest in attending.
@4444eam SameâŠ
I didnât think of that. Maybe they will adjust numbers accordingly for 2023-24 admission cycle to account for many students going to Boston from Oakland?
Or the RD round this year
True!
Since commitments arenât due until may 1, I doubt itâs a yield issue. Look, many people may not want oakland for 4years. But itâs an option, as opposed to a rejection. If your child doesnât want Oakland, decline and move on. Itâs a new campus. I think northeastern is going to build it up. Itâs also a beautiful campus, in Bay Area. My child was admitted to global scholars so will spend 1 semester there. Sheâs excited about spending a semester on west coast. We also live in Philadelphia, not suburbs. So sheâs city smart, takes subway to school in north Philly. And she is looking forward to it. It may not be for you and your family but others may embrace it. Itâs an option which people can accept or decline.
Oakland of today is not the Oakland of years past. It has been completely gentrified due to high cost of living in San Francisco and Bay Area. People working in the city bought up the real estate and Oakland area today is clean with lots of nice shopping, restaurants, live music. Lots of wealth.
I agree. The Oakland campus is a 10 - 15 minute Uber ride to several major state parks with fabulous hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor sports (Redwood, Sibley) and about 25 minutes by car from the spectacular Tilden Park. When my Boston friends come to visit, they are constantly amazed that massive parks filled with redwood trees and hiking trails are literally in our backyard. The city has lovely, gracious neighborhoods and amazing food. The campus itself is beautiful and serene. Every city has its dangers, Oakland included, depending on where you decide to go; and of course, it has urban problems like poverty and homelessness in some areas. Boston is also not immune to crime, homelessness, and poverty, by the way. Hopefully, smart NU students who are interested in solving the worldâs big problems donât feel the need to live their lives blinded to the very problems that need solving. And again, students interested in outdoor activities who are willing to explore will find a wealth of wonderful things to do. Thereâs a reason housing costs are through the roof in Oakland. Itâs a fantastic place to live.
Thank you for this comment! Makes me more secure that my adventurous daughter is making a good decision. Sheâs excited for oakland campus and experience, but people keep telling her she shouldnât want to attend there. people who donât know the area. Sheâs mature and city smart so I know sheâll do great and experience an area of the country she wouldnât otherwise.
Thank you for saying this! I agree with your completely. If your student does not want this option, decline and move on.
Does anyone know when northeastern will tell global scholar students what location they are starting at?
