I’m trying to decide between attending Northeastern University in the Honors Program to study bioengineering or attending the University of Florida in the Honors Program to study biomedical engineering.
I plan on continuing on to medical school after my undergraduate years so I would like to know if anyone has any info or has experienced personally the process of majoring in BME and continuing on to medical school from either school. (Advantages and disadvantages would help!)
**side note: the pricey tuition of Northeastern would not be a factor as I was lucky enough to receive enough scholarship money to actually make it more affordable than the in-state tuition for the University of Florida.
My S visited NEU as part of a University Scholars event. He loved the NEU and LOVED BOSTON. Since you mentioned that money is not an issue, I think it is a matter of Gainesville v. Boston …
Both good schools.
Just a thought…April 6 high temps
Boston 38
Gainesville 78
thank you for your input guys! @kittymom1102 @citygator
Don’t know much about NE’s program, but UF’s is very selective. They are looking for students who plan on going on to med school, grad school, law school, etc.
Here’s a video on the programs first graduates:

The program is new. In the past, they required students get their BS in electrical, mechanical, etc., and then offered a masters degree in Biomedical. You can still go that route, but you also now have the option of earning the BS in Biomedical.
